HVAC Installation & Repair in California

Heating, cooling, and ventilation sized for the house — not a rule of thumb.

HVAC

Why it matters

What this service is really about.

Most HVAC problems trace back to two things: equipment that was never sized correctly for the house, or ductwork that leaks air into the attic. Throwing a bigger unit at the problem usually makes it worse — short cycles, uneven rooms, higher bills.

We do a load calculation before we quote equipment. We check ducts, insulation, and airflow. The goal is a system that runs long, quiet cycles and actually keeps the whole house comfortable.

Common problems

What we typically see.

  • Rooms that never get warm or cool like the rest of the house
  • Short cycling from oversized equipment
  • Leaky ducts wasting 20–30% of conditioned air
  • Aging R-22 systems that are expensive to recharge
  • Thermostats placed in the wrong spot
  • Dirty coils and clogged filters choking airflow

Options

System types

A plain-language breakdown of the choices. Final pricing is always site-specific and provided in writing after an inspection.

Central split system (AC + furnace)

Outdoor condenser paired with an indoor furnace or air handler, distributed through ducts. The standard for most California homes.

Lifespan
15–20 years

Pros

  • Familiar, widely serviceable
  • Efficient when sized correctly

Considerations

  • Requires good ductwork to perform well

Heat pump (all-electric)

Provides both heating and cooling from one outdoor unit. Rebates are strong right now in California.

Lifespan
15–20 years

Pros

  • One system for year-round use
  • Qualifies for significant rebates

Considerations

  • Needs proper sizing for coldest winter days

Ductless mini-split

Wall- or ceiling-mounted indoor units connected to an outdoor heat pump. Ideal for additions and rooms that ducts can't reach.

Lifespan
15–20 years

Pros

  • Zone-by-zone control
  • No ductwork needed
  • Very efficient

Considerations

  • Indoor heads visible
  • Cost-per-zone adds up

Gas furnace replacement

High-efficiency condensing gas furnace for homes staying on natural gas heat.

Lifespan
18–25 years

Pros

  • Lower fuel cost in gas regions
  • Fast warmup

Considerations

  • No cooling function
  • Future electrification may be restricted

Duct sealing & redesign

Measured-airflow testing, mastic sealing, and — where needed — redesigning supply/return runs.

Pros

  • Often the biggest comfort upgrade for the money

Considerations

  • Requires attic or crawl access
